Daniel Morgan Boone was born, December 23, 1769, the 7th of 10 children born to the well know frontiersman, Daniel Boone of Kentucky. After several years as a trapper, he acquired land in St. Charles County, Missouri. Later, he moved to western Missouri and was the first white man to visit what later became Jackson County. He married Sara Lewis in 1800. On June 6, 1831, he patented 80 acres of ground north of 63rd Street near Brooklyn, and across the road that is now 63rd Street, he patented an additional 240 acres, and then built his home on another tract nearby, near what is now 79th and Holmes. Morgan Boone, a grandson of Daniel Morgan Boone built a house at what is now the southwest corner of 91st and Holmes. His cousin, Napoleon Boone, at the same time built a house at what is now 8226 Wornall Road. In 1962, the house on Wornall Road was still standing north of the Hen House (Big Lots presently). |
