The Waldo Community Improvement District

In 1998, the State of Missouri passed legislation that allows areas, with a majority approval by property owners, to create "community improvement districts," or CIDs. CIDs provide support for physical improvements, promotion, events, and similar activities through additional property and/or sales tax. In 2007, the Waldo Area Business Association formed the Waldo CID to provide additional support for its many events and services, and to expand those services for the enjoyment of Waldo businesses and visitors.

The Waldo CID encompasses commercial properties within the Wornall corridor from 71st street on the north to 85th Street on the south.

The Waldo CID focuses its investment in the following areas:

• Establishing and implementing a comprehensive image and marketing program to promote tourism, recreational or cultural activity or special events in the District.
• Instituting a bike patrol to promote safety and security
• Providing regular maintenance of public and right-of-way areas
• Support for annual events such as the Waldo Festival, Waldo Crawldo Pub Crawls, and other ongoing events and promotions
• Beautification and Improvement of Waldo Gateways and Maintenance of the Waldo Fountain

Waldo Roadrunners

WALDO CID DOLLARS AT WORK! As of October 1st Waldo now has three Area Awareness Officers patrolling on bikes. The Waldo Area Awareness Offices of Chesley Brown Companies, will be interacting with merchants and citizens to assist in creating a secure, well-managed and welcoming environment to all parties who frequent the Waldo Area from Gregory to 85th Street along the Wornall corridor. The Area Awareness Officers will provide a uniformed, visible presence to observe, report and serve as sources of information to the public, police officers, local businesses, tenants and other agencies and organizations. The officers are joining the Waldo Wizards of Satellite Janitorial Company who are helping with the beautification of Community Improvement District.

The services of the Area Awareness Officers are not intended to replace any situations that require Police intervention.

Waldo Wizards

Beginning September 1, 2009, the Waldo CID hired Satellite Janitorial Company to begin a supplemental clean up service in the Waldo area. It is still the responsibility of businesses to keep their property clean. We are trying to make Waldo a place we can all be proud of and where customers feel comfortable doing business. We ask for your help in taking pride of your property and keeping it clean at all times. If you notice anything that needs attention in the neighborhood, feel free to give us a call.
